Patient Testimonials

“I would like to thank you for changing my life. I give God the credit, but he used your hands and mind to do his work. When I met you, I was 42 years old and not aging very gracefully. I mace in for some restylane and was very happy with the results. You helped make a scar less noticeable and give my face a more youthful appearance….”

Threading Hair (EPILATION)

Threading hair is one of the oldest methods of body hair removal. It originated in Turkey, although it is currently most popular in India and other parts of the Middle East. Today, threading is also gaining popularity in Western cosmetology. Threading removes the entire hair follicle, lasting up to 6 weeks.

Technique

Our esthetician uses a pure, thin, twisted cotton thread which is rolled over usually untidy hairlines, moustaches and other areas of unwanted hair, plucking the hair at the follicle level. Unlike tweezing, where single hairs are pulled out one at a time, threading can remove an entire row of hair, resulting in a straighter line. In our experienced esthetician’s hands it is quick and painless.

As with all methods of body hair removal, there are both advantages and disadvantages to threading.
Advantages

  • Threading is much healthier for the skin than waxing, and it creates no ingrown hairs.
  • It is inexpensive, fast and relatively painless.
  • Threading is suitable for all skin types, even those too sensitive for laser hair removal or waxing.
  • It can be safely done while taking Accutane or using tretinoin cream (Retin A)
  • It takes no more than 15 minutes to thread both eyebrows.
  • No chemicals are used in threading, so there is no risk of a negative reaction.
  • The results of the treatment last for four to six weeks.

Disadvantages

  • Threading only works on flat surfaces and does not work on bikini lines or knees.
  • For people with severe acne, threading can cause acne ruptures.
  • Like other hair removal methods, threading can cause folliculitis, reddening of the skin and skin pigment change.
