Cellulite is a special kind of superficial fat; which is trapped underneath the top layer of skin. There are specific reasons why superficial fat turns into cellulite and why it affects mostly women:
- Poor lymphatic circulation
- Defective connective tissue
- Enlarged fat cells
- Female hormonal cycle
- Poor diet and nutritional habits
Women’s fat is located just underneath the skin. In men, this fat is no problem and is smoothly dispersed, however in women this fat builds and begins to form bumps and bulges through the skin.
WHY DOES SUPERFICIAL FAT ORGANIZE ITSELF DIFFERENTLY IN MEN AND WOMEN?
Men organize their fat in connective tissue that runs parallel to their skin. This results in a smooth buildup of fat. Women however, organize their fat parallel to their skin. This causes a pulling down effect which creates bulges of fat or what you know as cellulite. This is why cellulite is seen more in women than in men.
WHY IS CELLULITE SO HARD TO GET RID OF?
The truth is superficial fat (cellulite) is the last to be affected by exercise and diet. This makes weight management and cellulite two separate issues. Another thing to remember is that cellulite is genetic; the level for which you fat turns into cellulite is determined by your genes. If you want to know how much cellulite you will have, take a good look at your mother.
Until today there is no permanent solution to eliminate cellulite but there are ways of treating it. This means reducing the appearance of cellulite and working on preventing cellulite.
WHAT CAN BE DONE TO TREAT CELLULITE?
Cellulite treatments work to diminish the appearance of fat underneath the top layer of skin. Some cellulite treatments work by smoothing it out using massage techniques such as endermologie. Other more advanced treatments melt fat underneath the skin so it can be circulated out of the body (mesotherapy). In either case, several treatments must be performed for optimum results. We also recommend low carbohydrate diet and exercise. This does not reduce cellulite but helps prevent excess fat in the body which can later turn into cellulite.
THERE ARE FOUR STAGES OF CELLULITE, EACH OF WHICH MAY REQUIRE A DIFFERENT TREATMENT:No visible cellulite, even when skin pinched or compressed. No visible cellulite when standing or lying down, however present when skin is pinched or compressed. Visible cellulite when standing, but not when lying down. Visible cellulite whether standing or lying down.
TREATMENTS FOR CELLULITE AVAILABLE AT BODY FOCUS:
Mesotherapy: with a special formula, called “cellulite cocktail” The formula is based on the patient’s stage of cellulite. During treatment, the formula is injected into the cellulite at one inch intervals along the affected areas. The process of correcting cellulite requires approximately 10 sessions.
Lipotron Lipoplasty: The only alternative to liposuction surgery with permanent results- this actually destroys the cellulite cell, which is then excreted through the body’s lymphatic drainage system.
VelaSmooth: The VelaSmooth is the first medical device cleared by the FDA for the treatment of cellulite.
Results: gradual improvement of cellulite in treated areas, firmer and tighter skin, re-contouring of the treated areas.LED Therapy: LED treatments increase circulation to the dermis bringing more nutrients to the area, while stimulation of lymphatic drainage leaves the skin smooth with improved texture.
